Meet the Midwife:

Kayla Joseph, CNM

Kayla has been interested in Mamas and babies since her teen years. She pursued her nursing degree from Germanna Community College in Locust Grove, VA and graduated with honors with her associates degree in 2015. Shortly after completing the requirements to be named a Registered Nurse she moved to the Republic of Haiti where she served in a very rural mountain clinic for over 3 years. Haiti provided invaluable experience caring for women, malnourished children, the elderly and many more. Kayla became very accustomed to navigating birth, emergency situations and chronic illness in a very low resource setting. During her time overseas Kayla managed the clinic’s hypertension program, malnutrition program and was head nurse for about 18months.

Kayla would have made her permanent home serving in a third world county, but God had other plans. In 2019 she returned home and began studying again, completing her master's in nursing as a Certified Nurse Midwife through Frontier Nursing University in 2023.

Soon after attaining her license as a CNM Kayla recognized the need for more home birth midwives in the Cheyenne area, and with much encouragement started Meadowlark Midwifery in the late Fall of 2023.

When she is not catching babies and caring for mothers Kayla is caring for her family, engaged in church activities, pursuing others, and gardening. She enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, learning how to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ and being outdoors.
